A bit about me

Hi there, I'm Autumn Morrison and I'm a home lighting expert. I began my career in lighting back in 1999, in a lighting showroom in Portland, Maine (USA). I had recently moved to Maine from New York City, a bit burned out from a successful high-pressured stint in real estate at Citi Habitats. I've always loved homes from a young age, and finding homes for people was wonderful but pretty cut-throat and stressful - more concerned with money and signing deals than the beauty of the home, which is what makes my heart pound. Ready for my next chapter, I left the city and was wandering through downtown Portland, and walked by a fascinating shop window, glowing with the most beautiful cacophony of lights I had ever seen. I spied a little 'help wanted' sign and that's how it started. At first, I thought it was a home interior shop and was a bit put off when I found out it was ONLY lights, thinking I would get bored. How wrong I was. My passion was lit. Eclipsing the long-standing sales person's sales in under 6 months, I soon had my own office on the top floor, working on floor plans till midnight, hunting for lights for people, and waking up the next day, buzzing with excitement to show my customers what I found for them. To this day, I am never bored by lighting, there's always something to learn, something to solve, something to marvel at, something to seek, something to find, something to share.

Since that fateful day I have:

• Lit an olympic medalist's home (Jim Diamond - I will never forget you)
• Lit the home of the author of the Perfect Storm (Linda Greenlaw) 
• Lit the palatial home of the Goya Foods family home in Miami (the Unanue's)
• Partied with the owner of Red Bull (he was friends with the Goya Food heir)
• Lit private art collections for an interior designer to Joop (Kevin Grey)
• Lit a Picasso exhibit
• Lit a Friedo Kahlo exhibit
• Lit the permanent art collection at the Bass Museum, Miami
• Lit an original piece of the United States Constitution
• Became a national sales manager for multiple international lighting brands, flying all across America to open and nurture accounts with architects, lighting showrooms, and interior designers
• Been flown out to Venice to visit manufacturer's factories
• Lit the private home and grounds of one of Britain's top 100 richest people
• Lit the homes of Manchester City football players
• Lit a home featured on Netflix (Cold Call)
• Been interviewed and published in a renowned national lighting trade magazine, twice
• Lit a portfolio of multi-million pound award-winning homes around Alderley Edge and Prestbury

What I can do for you

If you're reading this, it's because your interested, in one way or another, in lighting. And that's a great place to start. I can work with that. Each job/project is unique, although the goal is always the same - to get the lighting right which makes the space feel and look good. That being said, lighting is subjective and highly personal - what one person loves another may not. Successful lighting means teamwork and trust. Collaboration is key - my experience and product knowledge combined with your vision, your desire. The main element to being able to light a space correctly is asking the right questions. This discovery process is fundamental to achieving the best lighting. If someone starts telling you where to put your lights without asking you questions, be wary. Whenever I light a space, it's always with the customer at the heart of it all.
