Staircase wall lights go back to the days when castles were lit with torches. Thankfully, we have a lot more choices these days. There is so much choice when it comes to staircase wall lights, it can seem daunting. But there are some basic criteria to look out for. Choose wall lights that don't protrude too much, try to find ones that are 10 cm (4") deep. Avoid fragile lights, as the occasional bump against the wall might happen when people pass each other going up and down. Try to get ones that are easier to keep clean, as reaching them can be awkward. And lastly, think about how they look from the side, because that's how you'll be viewing them most of the time.

Top Tip: Get dimmable wall lights for stairs, as you'll be using the stairs both day and night and your lighting should adjust accordingly.
